Tanzanian giants Simba SC have booked a date with their Kenyan counterparts Gor Mahia in what promises to be a mouthwatering clash.

This is after Gor Mahia accepted Simba’s invitation to be their guest team on Simba Day, scheduled for Wednesday, 10 September, at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
“Our visitors on Simba Day 2025 are Gor Mahia from Kenya,” Simba confirmed in a Facebook post on Thursday, 28 August.
Simba had initially invited FKF Premier League champions Kenya Police FC for the day, but the law enforcers seem to have declined the invitation, understandably, due to their participation in the CECAFA Kagame Cup, which will be ongoing at that time.
A Simba versus Gor Mahia clash will put together two top teams with rich history and massive followings from Tanzania and Kenya, respectively, and one that will definitely be a talking point both on mainstream and social media.
The annual Simba Day is usually celebrated on 8 August, but this year's fest was postponed due to the ongoing 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) that Tanzania is co-hosting alongside Kenya and Uganda.
The last time K'Ogalo met Wekundu wa Msimbazi was on Sunday, 10 June 2018, during the final of a tournament where K'Ogalo emerged 2-0 victors courtesy of goals from Meddie Kagere and Jacques Tuyisenge.
Since then, Simba has experienced exponential growth on many fronts, while the same cannot be said of Gor Mahia.
Simba has consistently reached the knockout phases of CAF interclub competitions, including the final of the 2024/25 CAF Confederation Cup.
Gor Mahia, on the other hand, have faded away on the continental stage and have failed to reach the group stage since the 2018/2019 season, when they reached the group stage of the Confederation Cup for the second successive time.
Nonetheless, the two clubs will seemingly not field their strongest squads, as the match comes a day after their respective national team assignments.
Kenya will host Seychelles in a World Cup qualifier match on 9 September. Coach Benni McCarthy has named six Gor Mahia players in his squad for the match.
On the same day, Tanzania will welcome Niger, with a couple of Simba players expected to take part.
