Football Kenya Federation Leagues and Competitions Committee (LCC) has finally rendered the long-awaited decision on the match between Kenyan giants Gor Mahia and Mozzart Bet Cup champions, Nairobi United.
The two sides met in an FKF Premier League match played on Sunday, 21 December 2025 that was abandoned slightly after the hour mark with scores at 1-1.
Ghanaian import Ebenezer Adukwaw gave K’Ogalo the lead in the 15th minute, with Ovella Ochieng scoring the equalizer in the 59th minute.
Violent scenes were witnessed in the stands between gate two and three of Dandora Stadium shortly after Ovella’s equalizer.
The scenes caught the attention of referee Brooke Philip who paused the match, before it was abandoned as security men were overwhelmed.
The matter was referred to LCC even as both teams engaged in counter accusations.
After weeks of litigation and waiting, the verdict was rendered as communicated on Friday, 30 January.
“The Committee ruled that the match was abandoned due to force majeure (Act of God). In accordance with the FKF Rules and Regulations, the result at the time of abandonment has been upheld as a 1–1 draw.
Matters relating to misconduct during the match have been referred to the FKF Disciplinary Committee for further action where applicable,” read part of a statement of FKF’s official website.
Additionally, the committee has also released a ruling on the match between 2010 league champions Ulinzi Stars and Murang'a Seal, that was played on Sunday 25 January at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.
The military side refused to restart the match following Joe Waithira’s 94th minute,a goal that gave Murang'a Seal a 2-1 lead.
Ulinzi believed that there was a handball in the build-up and further, felt to have been awarded a penalty in an earlier incident.
Their refusal to start saw the referees walk off the pitch after failing to persuade them.
“The Committee determined that the match was abandoned following Ulinzi Stars FC’s refusal to resume play. As per the FKF Rules and Regulations, the match has been awarded to Murang’a Seal FC, with the official result recorded as Ulinzi Stars FC 0–2 Murang’a Seal FC.
The case has been forwarded to the FKF Disciplinary Committee and the Referees Committee for further consideration of applicable sanctions,” read LCC’s decision.
In effect, Gor Mahia have moved clear at the top of the league table with 37 points, one more than their arch rivals AFC Leopards.
Seal have also moved up to fifth with 27 points as Ulinzi remain 14th with 17 points.
