Siraj, who was part of Harambee Stars' CHAN squad, was one of the headline signings Gor Mahia made in the off-season as part of their rebuild after losing last season’s title to Kenya Police FC.
After nearly a decade at Bandari, he made the switch to K’Ogalo, hoping for a fresh chapter in his top-flight career.
However, the move has not gone as planned. Nine matches into the new campaign, Siraj is yet to make a single appearance, with Brighton Onyona firmly established as first-choice left-back and Levin Odhiambo serving as his understudy.
Assistant captain Geoffrey Ochieng’, who has been ruled out of the first leg due to injury and registration issues, is expected to return once the mid-season transfer window opens.
On Tuesday, Gor Mahia made nine changes to their regular first 11 in the 4-1 loss to APS Bomet at Nyayo Stadium, yet Siraj still did not feature. Midfielder Fidel Origa even filled in at left-back late in the match, an indication that Siraj may not be in the technical bench’s plans.
Speaking to Mozzart Sport, the soft-spoken defender admitted the situation has left him with no choice but to seek a move away from the club.
He noted that he intends to speak with the club to find an amicable solution, as he no longer believes he can secure playing time at the league leaders.
“I’ll be seeking a move in January to get more playing time. I had hoped to feature regularly at Gor Mahia, but that hasn’t happened.
As a player, I want to be on the pitch as much as possible, and I’ll speak with the club to find the best way forward for everyone,” he said.
Gor Mahia return to action on Sunday, 7 December for the Mashemeji Derby against AFC Leopards at Nyayo Stadium.
