The 24-year-old Ghanaian, as per the club, is currently undergoing medical assessment on the injury caused by direct contact with a Bandari player, but his timeline for return remains uncertain.

Adukwaw, moments after curling in a free kick that secured Gor Mahia a 1-0 win in the final, seemed to be in deep pain as he clutched his right shoulder, and was substituted off to receive medical care.

The winger was later pictured at the tournament trophy celebrations with a white sling around his arm.

In a statement released on Sunday, 12 the club gave a report of how events unfolded in Mombasa, saying that Adukwaw, despite receiving on-pitch emergency care, continued to experience significant discomfort and a limited range of motion in his shoulder, which forced his evacuation to a nearby hospital for comprehensive evaluation.

Confirming the nature of the injury, Team Doctor Brian Odongo stated: “Medical assessment and imaging confirmed a soft tissue injury to the shoulder region.”

While the diagnosis rules out more severe damage like a fracture, the player’s timeline for recovery remains uncertain.”

About his road to recovery, Odongo emphasised a cautious approach adding: “He is currently under medical management with a further follow-up planned to monitor recovery and determine readiness for return to play.”

Adukwaw now joins goalkeeper Gad Matthews on the Gor Mahia active injury list, following the news of the latter suffering a severe abdominal pain, which forced him to be airlifted to Nairobi.

The duo, as it stands, are now a doubt for Gor Mahia’s game against Posta Rangers, scheduled for Monday, 20 October.
