FKF Division One side Chebaiywa Lions midfielder Apolo Gitahi has explained how former Gor Mahia striker Nicholas Kipkirui has been inspiring the club's players.
The Harambee Stars forward joined the Eldoret-based club at the start of the season, making a comeback to football after several months on the sidelines due to illness.

Having played in the top flight for several years, since making his debut in 2017, Kipkirui had already achieved what the majority of players in Chebaiywa are only dreaming of.
It is this point of privilege that Kipkirui understands and utilizes as explained by his teammate Gitahi after their 3-0 loss to KCB in the Mozzart Bet Cup Round of 16.
“He (Kipkirui) has been a motivation to myself and other young players in the team. He reminds us everyday to work hard and push ourselves. As someone who has played on the big stage before, his experience and advice is key for us,” said Gitahi.
Having been in fine form for Chebaiywa, Gitahi took time to reveal his personal target as the season draws to a close.
“I am open to opportunities at the end of the season with an ambition to play in the FKF Premier League. I get motivation from the coach and the fact that I have been making an impact even when coming from the bench,” he added.
The former St. Antony's Boys Kitale striker also took time to reflect on Chebaiywa’s journey in the Mozzart Bet Cup that ended with the defeat to KCB.
“We had a decent run in the Cup and gave our best but eventually lost due to a lapse in concentration which was punished,” he explained.
The elimination now means that Chebaiywa will channel all their energy to the FKF Division One where they currently sixth on the log with 30 prints, 17 shy of league leaders Mfalme FC, who are the only non-FKF Premier League team that qualified to the Mozzart Bet Cup quarter final.
