Ghanian wonder boy Brian Brobbey signs for RB Leipzig

The likes of Bayern München, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan have been registered with an interest in the highly-rated 19-year-old striker, but Leipzig once again showed it has grown into a club that attracts the biggest European talents. After Josko Gvardiol, who came from Dinamo Zagreb in a 16 million euros transfer, the German club added second addition for the next season. Ajax wonder boy Brian Brobbey will join on a free transfer.

Now, You may have not heard about him, but Brobbey is considered to be one of the greatest European talents. Ajax wanted to keep him but it failed in doing so. Leipzig was more convincing.

“It’s a shame. We’ve done everything we could for him to stay but he prefers to play at another club. I’m tired of this story now but he is within his rights,” said Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars recently.

Brobbey is a center-forward who can score goals. Lots of goals: 26 with Ajax’s under-17s, 42 with the under-19s and 15 in 27 matches with the reserve side, Jong Ajax. He also has 16 in 24 games for the Netherlands under-17s. And Brobbey wasted no time making his mark for the Ajax senior side under Erik ten Hag. Four goals and two assists in 168 minutes on the field. A goal or assist on every 28 minutes!

The 19-year-old has a four-year contract with the Red Bulls until 2025. Brobbey is eligible to play his international football for Ghana due to his Ghanaian parentage.
