The Eldoret-based side grabbed the final remaining slot in the third-tier Zone B league
The stage is set for Football Kenya Federation Division One League Zone B after completion of all promotion mini leagues and what awaits,is the schedule for the third tier league.
GFE 105 stunned Ichuni Combined 2-0 to grab the third and only remaining division one spot in a match staged at Eldoret Showground on Saturday afternoon.
The two got to the play-offs after finishing as runners up in their respective fourth tier promotion mini leagues.GFE succumbed to a 2-1 defeat against Kiminini Combined during the Western play offs while Ichuni were annihilated 6-1 in Central Zone finals by Nakuru Bucks.
In a match of equal chances,Kright Bright coached GFE dominated every aspect of the game and were close to breaking the deadlock through energetic striker Danlami Muhammud though his well timed chip over the goalie hit the woodwork and rolled out of play.
The first half belonged to the host who outplayed the visitors by adopting an aggressive approach though goals eluded them.
GFE whose attack was spearheaded by former De la Sharks striker Brian Kipkoech took the lead through Danlami Muhammud in the 65th minute before Kipkoech (88th minute) ensured the game was safe in a clash that involved the second-best teams in each zone.
Upon guiding his team to the third tier gain,a competition they last featured in 2018/2019 season,coach Bright lauded his charges for displaying good lay and was impressed by the way they played.
"It was a good game with fair results,we really prepared for this and are happy to be back to division one," he offered.
The iconic Eldoret based club joins division one money bags Nakuru Bucks and Kiminini Combined in division one and will grace Zone B for 2023-24 campaign.
