The former Tottenham and Real Madrid star is set to return to English football

Gareth Bale could be heading back to English football — but not as a player. Reports have surfaced that the former Tottenham and Real Madrid star is involved in secret talks to front a takeover of Plymouth Argyle.

Bale, who once lit up the Premier League and earned a then-world-record move to Madrid in 2013, is said to be the face of a U.S.-based private equity group's bid to buy the club. According to The Telegraph, early-stage negotiations have already taken place, with the American Storch family also involved.

While the details remain under wraps, Bale is believed to have played an active role in discussions to take full control of the club. Current chairman Simon Hallett has been seeking investment for over a year and had a deal collapse just last month. The new group now sees an opportunity, especially with Plymouth recently appointing ex-Watford midfielder Tom Cleverley as manager following their relegation to League One.

This move would follow a growing trend of football investments involving big names. Bale’s former teammate Luka Modric recently led a takeover bid for Swansea City, while NFL icon Tom Brady and golf stars Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas have also bought into English clubs.

From superstar winger to potential club owner — Bale’s next chapter in football may be unfolding off the pitch.
