Njuguna scored a goal of the season contender last weekend in their 2-0 win over KCB in Machakos
Tusker midfielder John Njuguna says the team has taken an approach of one game at a time, as the season gets into the home stretch, with 12 rounds of matches left.
Tusker picked up their 11th win of the season on Sunday, beating KCB 2-0 at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, with Njuguna putting up a man-of-the-match performance, assisting the first goal for Chris Erambo and scoring the second with a brilliant worldie.
There was no time to celebrate the win for the midfielder who revealed that the team’s focus was on the next match.
Victory over the bankers drew Tusker ten points closer to defending champions Gor Mahia who returned to winning ways last weekend following the narrow 1-0 win over Nairobi City Stars.
“As a team, this win is behind our backs. We are taking each match at a time and the target for us is to win all our remaining games. The focus now is on the next match and we see where that takes us,” Njuguna said.
Reacting to the wonder goal he scored which turned out to be his second in the season, the former Ulinzi Stars man said it was a source of motivation for him even as he hopes to add more in the remainder of the season.
“It definitely spurs my confidence and motivation. I have been working to improve on my scoring and slowly the fruits are bearing. I am glad I got another goal and I want to keep working to get more,” he told club media.

Meanwhile the Tusker Youth team graduate praised the competition in the team, saying everyone works hard to get a starting role and this keeps every player on their toes.
“When someone gets a chance we all get behind him and support him as we keep working to wait on ours,” added the former national U20 team player.
