Fullkrug's Italian nightmare continues - first injured, now robbed

AC Milan's new striker loses €500,000 in jewellery. Previously, he fractured his toe after just 106 Serie A minutes

Niclas Fullkrug's Italian adventure has barely begun, yet it already feels cursed.

Fresh off his move from West Ham, the German striker arrived at San Siro hoping for a clean slate, a revival, maybe even redemption. Instead, Serie A has greeted him with a brutal double blow: injured on the pitch, then robbed off it.

Still living out of a hotel while settling into life with the Rossoneri, Fullkrug left for training on Wednesday morning only to return to a scene straight out of a crime report. According to La Repubblica, thieves forced open the safe in his room and made off with four luxury watches worth around €500,000. Even the temporary safety of a hotel proved meaningless. Milan's newest signing is now cooperating with authorities as investigators search for fingerprints and leads.

But that's not the first misfortune for the German forward.

Just days earlier, Fullkrug had finally begun to feel like a Milan player. Signed on loan with an option to buy on January 2, he debuted the same evening in a 1-0 win over Cagliari, then came off the bench against Genoa before earning his first start against Fiorentina at San Siro.

That match, however, would turn sour.

Toward the end of the 1-1 draw, the 32-year-old fractured a toe - an injury that has already sent him back to the treatment room after just 106 minutes of Serie A football. Initial fears suggested weeks on the sidelines, though Sky Sport Italia later reported the problem may be less severe. The Rossoneri hope he could return against Lecce, but for now, he remains a major doubt.
