The former Gor Mahia centre back formally joined Djurgardens last month

Barely two weeks after formally joining Swedish top tier side Djurgardens IF, former Gor Mahia centre back Frank Odhiambo says he has fully adapted to life abroad and can’t wait for the league to kick off next month.

Djurgardens acquired the rookie late in January but had to wait for a couple of weeks to complete the highly publicized move that saw him become the second Kenyan to join the club after Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga.

The defender who has been training with the senior team revealed that he didn’t face challenges in settling in Sweden as he had done his homework well. He had consulted Kenyan International Michael Olunga, his close friend Henry Meja and Harambee Stars left back Erick Ouma on the demands of Swedish football, climate among other things.

Meja joined another top tier side AIK, home to Ouma in January and has already hit the ground running as he has netted three goals for the club. Other Kenyans who ply their trade in Sweden albeit in the second tier include Anthony Wambani and Mohamed Katana who are attached to Vasalund.

I did not have challenges in settling here as I had done a lot of research and consulted friends on what it takes to succeed in Swedish football. I have been training well and I am looking forward to making my debut at the competitive level next month. The weather was a little bit harsh but the good thing is summer is fast approaching,” he said.

The Stars trialist further disclosed that he was already used to Swedish dishes that he complements with his favourite, Ugali. The former national U20 defender who is hoping to move from the club house to a new apartment next month said he ferried a few packets of maize flour to Sweden.

“I can’t complain of what the menu has been offering thus far. The good thing is Ugali which happens to be my best dish is available as I carried with me a few packets of maize flour." he added.
