Four EPL giants lock horns over Roma's resurrected defender

One of the Giallorossi's key players in their outstanding and table-topping Serie A campaign is allegedly on the radar of both Manchester giants, Liverpool and Arsenal

The latest trend, which has been popular for several years in football, has set the age standard relatively low. The younger a player is, the more intriguing they are to European giants. However, this expansion of youngsters leaves clubs without the necessary experience, and sometimes that's crucial.

AS Roma's playing style under Gian Piero Gasperini, with few goals scored and even fewer conceded, has been quite odd in today's football, but that's not the only thing conflicting with trends in the Wolfess's ranks.

Namely, although aged 28, the Giallorossi's right-back Zeki Celik may become a proof that it's never too late to complete a career-defining transfer, as four Premier League giants reportedly locked horns over him!

Man City, Liverpool, and Arsenal had allegedly already been tracking the Turk's progress, and now Man United entered the race as well, according to Italian TuttoMercatoWeb.

Celik joined Roma three years ago from the French Lille, but his first two seasons at Stadio Olimpico under Jose Mourinho and Daniele De Rossi were far from impressive, as he clocked between 50 and 60 minutes per game.

However, the previous campaign season and playing for the experienced Claudio Ranieri changed Celik's fortunes, while Gian Piero Gasperini's arrival further continued his development and progress.

Roma currently top the Serie A table, and the Turk has been irreplaceable on the right flank, starting 13 of 15 games he played. He's recorded a goal and an assist so far, and has been a crucial factor both defensively (Roma conceded just six goals in 12 Serie A matches) and offensively.

Therefore, all this has obviously caught the eye of EPL giants, who will try to seize the chance and exploit the fact that Celik's transfer with the Giallorossi expires next June. In the previous transfer window, Fulham were allegedly keen on the wing-back, but the deal was never realized.

The interested parties will be able to assess his qualities further tonight, when Roma face the Danish Midtjylland at home in the fifth round of the UEFA Europa League.
