The transfer marks another step in the growing movement of Kenyan players seeking opportunities in South Sudan's rapidly developing top flight.

Otieno expressed his gratitude to Shabana, insisting the club played a key role in opening doors beyond Kenya.

"I want to sincerely thank everyone at Shabana FC, the management, coaches, my teammates and especially the fans. They believed in me and gave me valuable playing time that helped me grow as a player.

Those opportunities allowed people outside Kenya to notice what I could do, and today I'm taking this next step because of that exposure. I will always be grateful to the club and wish them nothing but success."

The striker admitted that the prospect of playing in the CAF Champions League was one of the biggest attractions behind the move.

"Every African player dreams of competing at the highest level on the continent. Getting the chance to play in the CAF Champions League is a massive motivation for me.

It's an opportunity to challenge myself against some of the best clubs in Africa, continue improving and show what Kenyan footballers are capable of on the biggest stage."

Otieno also revealed he has settled in quickly, thanks to the reception he has received from his new teammates and the club's officials.

"The welcome has been incredible from the moment I arrived. The players, coaches and everyone around the club have treated me like family.

They've made the transition very easy, and that gives me confidence heading into the new season. I can't wait to repay that trust with goals and strong performances."

El Merreikh Bentiu have emerged as one of South Sudan's fastest-rising clubs, winning the league title and domestic cup to earn a place in the upcoming CAF Champions League campaign.

Otieno believes the South Sudan Premier League deserves greater recognition across the region.

"People are beginning to see how competitive football in South Sudan has become. The clubs are investing more, the facilities are improving, and there is real ambition to compete in Africa.

Many quality players are coming here because they can see the project and the opportunities. I believe the league will continue growing, and I'm excited to be part of that journey."
