Former Tusker FC midfielder Khalid Aucho has officially announced his departure from Tanzanian giants Yanga SC after four trophy-laden seasons with the club.
The Ugandan international joined Yanga in 2021 following a stint with Egyptian side Misr Lel Makkasa.
During his time at the club, Aucho enjoyed a highly successful spell, winning the Tanzanian Premier League title in all four seasons, along with several other domestic honors.
While there had been speculation that his contract might be extended, Aucho took to social media to confirm he will not be continuing with the reigning champions.
“The time has come to close an unforgettable chapter in my life. Over the past four incredible seasons, I have lived moments filled with intense emotion, achieved remarkable goals, and built memories that will forever remain with me,” Aucho shared in his farewell message.
He expressed immense pride in what the team accomplished together during his stay at the club.
“We lifted league titles, celebrated every victory as a united family, and faced every obstacle with courage and determination. Every time I wore this jersey, I did so with immense pride and deep gratitude.”
Aucho went on to reflect on the impact of his time at Yanga, both on and off the pitch, citing the 2023 CAF Confederation Cup final appearance as a personal highlight.
“This journey shaped me, not only as a footballer but as a person. The unity, love, and unwavering support from all of you inspired me to give my best on and off the pitch. Reaching the CAF Confederation Cup final was a dream come true. It was a tough road, but every sacrifice made along the way was worth it.”
The Uganda Cranes captain also took time to thank his teammates, the club’s management, and Yanga’s passionate supporters.
“To my teammates over the years, many of you have become more than teammates; you are now my brothers for life. I wish you nothing but the best, Insha Allah.
To the management and staff, the coaching team, President Eng. Hersi Said, Mr. GSM, my big brother Anthony Mavunde, Vice President Mr. Arafat Ally, Omar Kimossa, and to the amazing fans who believed in me and showed me unconditional love you have meant the world to me. Asanteni sana.”
Aucho concluded his farewell with an emotional message of gratitude and optimism.
“Today, I say goodbye with a heart full of gratitude and love. I will always carry these colors wherever I go. This is not goodbye, it’s see you later. The bond remains. The love lives on.”
