The club made the announcement through an official statement on their Facebook page, highlighting Ongwae’s vast experience, leadership credentials, and deep-rooted passion for the game.

The statement added that the former Gor Mahia and Shabana FC defender’s vision aligns with the club’s aspirations for growth, excellence, and promotion to the top tier.

"We’re thrilled to announce and warmly welcome Coach Andrew Marco Ongwae as our new Head Coach,” read part of the club’s statement.

“His vision, dedication, and commitment to excellence align perfectly with our team’s values and ambitions. We’re excited to embark on this new journey under his guidance.”

Ongwae, a holder of the CAF B coaching license, joins the club from SamWest Blackboots.

He replaces Paul Ogai, who parted ways with the club last week despite guiding Gogo to an impressive fourth-place finish last season.

In a heartfelt farewell message, the club paid tribute to the departing Ogai, lauding his leadership and impact on the team both on and off the pitch.

"Your leadership, dedication, and passion for the game have inspired not only the players but also the entire community.

Under your guidance, we’ve experienced growth, resilience, and numerous memorable moments that will last a lifetime,” the message read in part.

Coach Ongwae now steps into a high-stakes role, tasked with building on Ogai's legacy and delivering FKF Premier League promotion for a club that narrowly missed out last season.

Darajani Gogo finished fourth on the log, just six points behind second-placed APS Bomet and level on points with third-placed Naivas FC, who clinched the final Relegation/Promotion Playoff spot due to a superior goal difference.

Naivas FC, however, failed to secure promotion after falling 2-1 on aggregate to Posta Rangers in the playoff.
