Mudenyu, a former AFC Leopards centre-back, has been absent from action for months, a development that had raised concerns among fans about his whereabouts and fitness status.

The experienced defender last featured for the Murang’a-based outfit on 4 October, during their 3–1 defeat to coastal side Bandari FC at Mbaraki Stadium.

It was in that clash that he suffered the setback, that has now ended his involvement for the remainder of year.

Speaking exclusively to Mozzart Sport, the former Sony Sugar, Western Stima and Muhoroni Youth stopper revealed that he had sustained a full medial meniscus tear in his right knee, an injury that has sidelined him for nearly two months.

Since picking up the injury, Mudenyu has missed six Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF-PL) fixtures.

In that period, Murang’a Seal have collected six points, including a morale-boosting 2–1 win over KCB, their second victory of the campaign, and respectable draws against Posta Rangers, Kakamega Homeboyz and AFC Leopards.

According to a medical report shared by the player, scans showed a transverse tear of the posterior horn of the medial meniscus and a Grade I–II Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL) sprain.

The severity of the damage means the defender will have to undergo surgery to repair the injury.

"I have been out of action for close to two months now, since I suffered the medial meniscus injury during the Bandari match,” he said.

“After undergoing an MRI, the doctors confirmed a full medial meniscus tear, and surgery will now be required to correct it.”

While the exact date for the surgical procedure is yet to be confirmed, Mudenyu did not specify a return timeline, with the final decision expected from the medical team.

However, he remained optimistic about overcoming the setback and returning stronger.

"My return date is yet to be determined because I am still awaiting the surgery, but I am hopeful of making a swift recovery and helping the club perform better,” he added.

The latest injury marks Mudenyu’s second major setback in just six months, following a hamstring injury that kept him out for part of last season.

With his rehabilitation now projected to stretch well into next year, the defender is officially ruled out until 2026, dealing a major blow to Murang’a Seal’s defensive plans for the season.
