The decision comes on the heels of a turbulent 24/25 campaign that saw the Murang’a-based outfit narrowly escape relegation on the final day of the season.

Despite a commendable run in the Mozzart Bet Cup, where they secured a podium finish ranked third best, the club’s league performance left much to be desired, having spent the better part of the season battling at the bottom end of the table.

Murang’a Seal eventually managed to retain their top-flight status courtesy of a narrow but crucial 1-0 victory over FC Talanta on the final day.

The win lifted them to 37 points just two above the relegation zone, ensuring their survival in what was only their second season in the top tier since promotion in 2023.

In response to the struggles, the club has made decisive changes aimed at rebuilding for the upcoming campaign.

Among the high-profile departures are former Harambee Stars captain Dennis Odhiambo, experienced Ulinzi Stars defender Harun Mwale, long-serving club captain Peter Mwaura, and veteran goalkeeper Morgan Alube, formerly of Chemelil Sugar, Vihiga United, and Naivas.

Also shown the exit door are forwards Titus Kapchanga (formerly of Kariobangi Sharks), Wilson Kamau, Joel Kihara, and Rajab Omar, as well as defender Brian Wanyonyi, who had joined from Darajani Gogo.

Midfielders David Wafula, John Mwita (ex-Migori Youth and Mara Sugar), Henry Obino (now with Shabana FC), and Yusuf Ali, who has since moved to Bandari, are also among those released.

The club has additionally parted ways with goalkeeper Brandon Ndoji.

Even mid-season acquisitions were not spared, as striker Samuel Ndugu (formerly with AFC Leopards and Bidco United) and ex-Gor Mahia goalkeeper Dolph Owino are among those axed.

"Yes, it’s true the club has parted ways with 16 players. Currently, only 11 players from last season’s squad have been retained,” revealed a source close to the club, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter.

As part of their rebuilding process, Seal has already moved to bolster the squad with the acquisition of striker Francis Memusi, previously at Kariobangi Sharks, and defender Davis Omiko from Royal Fresher.

More signings are expected in the coming weeks as the club looks to start afresh and mount a stronger campaign in what will be their third FKF-PL season.
