A win for Mara Sugar would lift them to seven points, potentially pushing them into third place on the log, while Bidco United could climb to second, just a point behind current leaders Posta Rangers, who top the 18-team standings with 10 points.
The Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF-PL) resumes this Friday, 24 October, after a one-week suspension in honor of the late former Prime Minister, the Right Honourable Raila Amollo Odinga, who passed away while receiving treatment in India.

Odinga, a long-serving patron of Gor Mahia FC and a revered national statesman, was honored with a seven-day suspension of all FKF-affiliated competitions.
With the emotional break now over, attention turns to Awendo Green Stadium, where Mara Sugar will be looking to extend their sweet resurgence when they host Bidco United in the first of the rescheduled round five fixtures.
The Kilgoris-based outfit will aim to build on their momentum following a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Ulinzi Stars at the Ulinzi Complex, a result that delivered their first win of the 2025/26 campaign.
Head coach Edward Manoah hopes his charges can now translate that away success into a maiden home victory, which has eluded them since the start of the season on 20 September.
Despite showing promise, Mara are yet to collect maximum points at home, having been held to a barren draw by Kakamega Homeboyz before suffering a narrow 1–0 defeat to debutants Nairobi United.
However, the 2023/24 National Super League champions have maintained a strong home record reminiscent of the old Sony Sugar FC days at the Awendo fortress, an advantage they will be keen to capitalize on against Bidco.
Their task will be far from easy. Bidco United, under coach Anthony Akhulia, will be eager to bounce back after suffering a 3–1 defeat to Kakamega Homeboyz.
That setback ended an impressive run that saw the Thika-based outfit stun both record champions Gor Mahia and Mozzart Bet Cup holders Nairobi United with identical 1–0 victories earlier in the campaign, establishing them as genuine contenders this term.
Interestingly, the head-to-head record slightly favors Mara Sugar.
Since earning promotion to the FKF-PL, the millers remain unbeaten against Bidco, winning 2–0 away in Thika before battling to a goalless draw in the return fixture at Awendo.
That history sets up Friday’s clash as a potentially thrilling end-to-end affair.
Speaking to Mozzart Sport on Thursday, Mara Sugar midfielder Brian Ochieng expressed confidence in his team’s preparation and highlighted the importance of defensive discipline.
“I believe we have prepared well and are ready for the challenge. We must be at our best, starting with our defensive approach,” Ochieng said.
“Bidco have scored in every game this season, which shows how potent they are in attack. We need to shut them down and make the most of our chances; that killer instinct was missing in our first two games.”
On the other hand, Bidco forward Herman Ngala stressed the need to respond positively after last week’s setback.
“We have no room for further slip-ups. We must bounce back immediately to stay in touch with the leading pack and restore our confidence,” Ngala told Mozzart Sport.
A win for Mara Sugar would lift them to seven points, potentially pushing them into third place on the log, while Bidco United could climb to second, just a point behind current leaders Posta Rangers, who top the 18-team standings with 10 points.
