Ahead of the clash, Kenyan giants Gor Mahia remain at the summit of the league table with 49 points, six more than arch-rivals AFC Leopards, who have a game in hand. Shabana close the top three with 40 points.
At the bottom of the table lie Sofapaka with 14 points, and they are joined in the relegation zone by APS Bomet and Ulinzi Stars, both on 19 points.
Defending champions Police sit fifth on the table with 37 points, while their hosts Posta Rangers are 13th with 25 points.
Police head into the match seeking a third consecutive win after securing back-to-back victories over Batoto Ba Mungu and Bandari with identical 2-0 scorelines.
Before that run, the law enforcers had endured a difficult spell, winning just once in 11 league matches and losing ground in the title race.
Coach Nicholas Muyoti will once again rely on Burkina Faso forward Yves Koutiama for goals, with the striker having found the back of the net six times since joining the 2024 Mozzart Bet Cup champions in January.
Police will also look to maintain their improved defensive form, having kept three consecutive clean sheets for the first time this season.
Posta, on the other hand, comes into the match on a poor run of form, currently on an 11-match winless streak that includes three defeats in their last five games.
The Mailmen were on the verge of securing an important victory in their last outing against Gor, where they were the better side for most of the match but conceded in the 87th minute to allow an equalizer from Ebenezer Assifuah.

Coach Collins Omondi has attributed the poor run to wastefulness in front of goal during crucial moments.
“Our major undoing has been our inability to kill off games when we are having good spells. That was the case against Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards, Kariobangi Sharks, and many other matches,” said Omondi after the Gor Mahia game.
The first-leg meeting between the two sides in November 2025 ended in a barren draw. In their last five meetings, Posta have won once and Police twice, while two matches have ended in draws.
