FKFPL: High-flying Posta Rangers face Kakamega Homeboyz

Reading Time: 3min | Thu. 02.11.23. | 07:59

It is the only top flight game on the cards today

After enticing Football Kenya Federation Premier League matches on Wednesday, top-flight action is set to carry on, on Thursday with one match lined up in Kakamega.

Tenth-placed Kakamega Homeboyz will lock horns with league leaders and the ambitious Posta Rangers in a match scheduled at the Bukhungu Stadium starting at 3.00 pm EAT.

Homeboyz will be hoping to bounce back from last weekend’s 1-0 trouncing by Kariobangi Sharks as they seek to return to winning ways ending their recent inconsistent run that has seen the Patrick Odhiambo-coached side pick up two wins in the last five games.

On the other hand, John Kamau’s mailmen will be under pressure to extend their lead at the summit of the league by three points after Gor humbled Shabana on Wednesday evening to catch up with the high-flying club.

Despite enjoying a fine form this term, Kamau has maintained their focus is to take it a game at a time while downplaying the fact they have the chance to win their maiden league title in history.

I don’t think we need to talk about the title now. It’s too early to start talking or even thinking of the title. We are winning our matches but one thing I don’t want to distract my players is the title talks,” he told reporters ahead of the Homeboyz match-up.

All eyes will also be on Kakamega attackers who have struggled in front of the net in the last five games and face a team that has a satisfactory defensive record having kept four clean sheets in the previous five league matches.

Kakamega will be without the services of midfielder Hillary Otieno who is out with a knee injury.

Posta have struggled in this fixture with the mailmen picking up one win in the last five meetings between them and the Bukhungu housed club who have nicked three points in four times in the long run.

Victory for Kakamega will move them to sixth on the log while all points for Rangers will see them open a three-point gap at the helm of the FKF Premier League table ahead of round ten games.
