Bidco are fifth on the log, five points behind leaders Posta Rangers
Bidco United centre back Francis Oduor is calling on his teammates to build on their fairly good start in the season and have their best ever campaign since gaining promotion to the top flight.
The Thika-based club has been showing glimpses of improvement this season as the team finds itself in the top five of the table with 14 points, five off log leaders Posta Rangers.
Even before round one, all signs of the club thriving this season were there after winning the Elite Pre-season Cup, where they beat the Kariobangi Sharks 2-1 in the final stage at the Kasarani Annex in August.
In the previous seasons, Bidco has been struggling to squeeze themselves into the top half of the table, but Oduor believes that if the team can capitalise on the confidence derived from a good start, then they will be competitors rather than participants.
Bidco were promoted in 2020 alongside Nairobi City Stars but have never achieved a top-half finish, something Oduor believes is within their reach.
"There is still room for improvement. Yes, we can do better than we are doing. We want to compete this season," said the centre back, who was voted man of the match in their barren draw against Gor Mahia.
Oduor, who doubles up as the club assistant captain in the meantime, lauded the team's effort and aggressiveness in front of the goal.
Unlike in previous seasons, Bidco have been scoring goals, with their latest win being a 3-0 scoreline over Muhoroni Youth at the Kasarani Annex.
The defender said the team was reaping the fruits of the attacking drills they had been practicing from time to time.
"We have been working for it. We want to be more ruthless and continue charging to the top. The players have been working hard, and I urge them to keep the fire burning," he added.
