Even with the developments, the Kenya Premier League will resume this weekend after being postponed for one matchweek

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has postponed its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting that was set to take place today (Tuesday 7 January), with a new date confirmed for Saturday 11 January 2025.

After the national FKF elections were held in December last year, the new office holders were supposed to hold a NEC meeting in order to fill in key positions at FKF, while also laying down their plans for the running of football.

With key positions, judicial bodies and committees lacking quorum and human resources, FKF postponed the first round of FKF Premier League matches of the year earmarked for 4-5 January to allow for the composition of committees and positions.

Mozzart Sport has learnt that the postponement of the NEC meeting has been necessitated by the presence of African Nations Championship (CHAN) inspection team, who are in the country for the final assessment of Kenya's readiness to host the continental tourney.

With the CAF team in the country, most of the NEC members will be involved in taking them round various facilities that will be used for the tournament, leaving FKF leadership with no option but to postpone the meeting.

The two main facilities that will be used for CHAN - Kasarani and Nyayo Stadiums - are undergoing final touches in order to meet the minimum requirements to host the tournament.

FKF announces formation of seven-member Transition Ad Hoc Committee

At the same time, the Football Kenya Federation on Tuesday announced the formation of a seven-member Ad Hoc Committee expected to guide the federation through its transition.

The committee, which was formed by the National Executive Council on 21 December 2024, will be entrusted with the responsibility of establishing robust governance structures and ensuring a seamless transition for the federation.

Chairing the committee will be FKF Vice President McDonald Mariga, with Women Representative Kerubo Momanyi serving as the Deputy Chairperson.

Upper Rift FKF Branch NEC Member Bernard Lagat will on the other hand, serve as Secretary.

Other members involved include: Eastern NEC Member Charles Njoka Njagi, Central NEC Member Robert Macharia, North Eastern NEC Member Ahmedqadar Mohammed Dabar, and Lower Rift NEC Member Peter “Kass Kass” Kamau.

The committee will also be tasked to commission a forensic audit in federation departments, facilitate operational continuity, and strengthen organisational capacity for long-term success.
