FKF Partners with FIFA to conduct club professionalization workshop

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has partnered with FIFA, the global governing body of football, to hold a two-day, high-level FIFA Club Professionalization and Management Workshop for FKF Premier League clubs.
Club Chairmen and CEOs from all Premier League clubs will attend the workshop, which is aimed at empowering local football clubs with skills in strategic planning, governance, and financial management.
The workshop, part of FIFA’s Club Professionalization and Management Program and marking its African edition, will take place in Nairobi from Monday, October 28 to Tuesday, October 29, 2024.
Highly experienced FIFA and Next Sports experts will lead the sessions, covering essential aspects of club professionalization.
Notable speakers include FIFA's Senior Professional Football Manager Marcos Picalló Aguilar, N3xt Sports’ Director of Commercial Services Marcos Pelegrin, FIFA Consultant Pedro Correia, Javier Sobrino (former Managing Partner at Aser Ventures).
FKF President Nick Mwendwa is scheduled to open the workshop on Monday and officially close it on Tuesday.
On the first day, participants will be guided through strategic planning by Javier Sobrino, Marcos Pelegrin, and Pedro Correia.
On Tuesday, Correia will present on good governance practices for football clubs, and Pelegrin will address financial management in professional clubs.
This workshop is a strategic move to make Kenyan clubs self-sustaining and financially viable, aligned with international standards.
Following a similar event in Angola in July, this African edition is part of FIFA’s ongoing efforts to support African member associations (MAs) in building stronger domestic leagues and clubs.
FIFA’s vision for this program is to equip club executives with new skills, practical insights, and opportunities to exchange best practices with industry professionals.
By strengthening African clubs, FIFA aims to create a globally competitive football landscape where clubs from all regions have the chance to compete at the highest levels both on and off the pitch.
The sessions will address current trends in club operations, stadium management, finance, marketing and communications, sporting strategy, youth academies, governance and legal issues, as well as leadership and negotiation skills.
