Fight for WPL second place continues

Gaspo Women play away to Kangemi Ladies with their sights set on clinching maximum points and moving second on the Women Premier League (WPL) log, at least for the night. 

Currently fourth on the log at 29 points, a victory for the Tilla Wangui-led side takes them to 32 points, two more than Ulinzi Starlets and Thika Queens who are in action on Sunday. 

Wangui's charges are looking to bounce back to winning ways after suffering their second defeat of the season last weekend at the hands of Zetech Sparks. 

On their part, Kangemi are dangerously hanging on to hope for a miracle to escape relegation and are still chasing a second win of the season. The side is bottom of the log at five points from two draws and one victory. 

Another relegation-fighting side Kisumu All Starlets hosts Wadadia FC in Kisumu. A win for the hosts takes them to 13 points but will not be enough to move them from the red zone as the ninth-placed Bunyore Starlets are at 15 points. 

Daniel Arunga-led Bunyore are eying maximum points, in a quest to complete the double away to Wadadia. With both sides tied at 15 points, maximum points for Arunga's charges takes them to eighth place, a point behind Nakuru Queens, while relegating Wadadia to ninth. 

On Sunday, Ulinzi Starlets train their guns on Nakuru Queens as Thika Queens target Zetech's scalp with second place at stake. 

Ulinzi are ahead on goal difference but tied on 30 points with Thika, 11-points adrift of runaway leaders Vihiga Queens. 

The three-time champions host Kayole in a clash that is likely to go the Boniface Nyamunyamu-led side's way as the latter are facing relegation at 11th place.
