Infantino, who is currently in Nairobi, Kenya, for the final of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, said the three host nations had committed to ensuring a seamless experience for visitors heading to the historic tournament.
“Everyone will be welcome in Canada, Mexico and the United States for the World Cup next year,” Infantino told reporters on Saturday, August 30, 2025.
“At the Club World Cup this year, we had fans coming from 164 different countries without any problem. The visa process will be smooth and will ensure that those who qualify can travel with their fans.”
The FIFA President spoke alongside Confederation of African Football (CAF) head honcho Patrice Motsepe, who is also in Nairobi to witness the CHAN final between Morocco and Madagascar.
Infantino noted that discussions with North American governments were ongoing to guarantee inclusive participation.
“Every country has its own legislation when it comes to visas,” he explained.
“But there is a clear commitment from the governments of the United States, Canada and Mexico to make sure that the process is seamless and that fans from all over the world will be welcome.”
Infantino admitted that visa challenges remain a reality even within Africa, pointing out that some African nations still make entry difficult for their neighbours.
“We have to work on that, we have to make it better, we have to make it seamless,” he said.
Beyond visa matters, the FIFA President emphasised the importance of volunteers in the success of the World Cup and encouraged Africans to seize the chance to be part of the global spectacle.
“The World Cup is an unforgettable experience. We will have tens of thousands of volunteers from all over the world, as in every World Cup. Africa must be part of this,” he said.
The 2026 edition of the World Cup will be historic, as it will feature 48 teams for the first time. Africa has been allocated a record nine slots, a development Infantino described as a significant opportunity for African football to shine on the global stage.
