Butere Girls rekindled their dream of winning the FEASSSA football title for the first time in history after a commanding 4-1 win over Tanzania’s Fountain Gate on Saturday
Kenya’s girls’ football teams posted impressive victories on day three of the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) Games, reigniting hopes of regional glory.
Butere Girls 4-1 Fountain Gate (Tanzania)
Butere Girls rekindled their dream of winning the FEASSSA football title for the first time in history after a commanding 4-1 win over Tanzania’s Fountain Gate on Saturday.
Christine Farrine, Lorna Faith, Patience Asiko, and substitute Mentrine Kitiavi found the net for the Kakamega champions, who had stumbled in their opener following a barren draw against Uganda’s Amus College.
Despite trailing inside 20 minutes, the four-time national champions showed composure.
Their breakthrough came just before halftime when Farrine headed in from Asiko’s delivery, restoring parity and setting up a tense second half.
Barely three minutes after the restart, Butere took the lead.
Diana Anyango’s surging run into the box was cut short illegally, prompting the referee to award a penalty, which Asiko stepped up and calmly converted.
Coach Edwin Sakwa then introduced the pacey Kitiavi, whose impact was instant.
She powered in a header to stretch the lead, before Lornah Faith sealed the result with a late free-kick that left the Tanzanian goalkeeper stranded.

The win gave Butere their first three points of the tournament and reignited hopes of a historic FEASSSA title chase.
Madira Girls 3-0 Alliance (Tanzania)
Madira Girls, nicknamed the Soccer Assassins, maintained their perfect run with a 3-0 win over Tanzania’s Alliance in a match played at Kakamega Outer Field.
Junior Starlets’ prodigy Lindi Weh Atieno opened the scoring just two minutes in with a delightful chip after spotting the goalkeeper off her line.
Moments later, she engineered another move that Leah Nekesa finished with ease to double the lead.
Villary Amondi struck late in the second half to round off the scoring, cementing Madira’s dominance and keeping their momentum alive in the tournament.
Elsewhere, Kenya’s Nasokol Girls added to the day’s joy with a 4-0 rout of Rwanda’s P.S.S Huye, ensuring a clean sweep for Kenyan representatives in the girls’ football fixtures.
