Agai High School 3-0 Benjamin Mkapa (Tanzania)
At Mabao Fields, Agai High School maintained their unbeaten streak, overpowering Tanzania’s Benjamin Mkapa 3-0 in a one-sided contest.
The Green Cardinals were dominant from the onset, dictating tempo and possession under the keen eye of head coach Gordon Aoko.
Their midfield, led by the industrious Moses Otieno, bossed the game with clever movement and crisp passing, leaving the Tanzanians chasing shadows.
In the 32nd minute, Otieno carved open the defense with a perfectly weighted through-ball that found Clif Otieno.
The right back unleashed a thunderbolt volley that rifled into the net, giving Agai a deserved 1-0 lead.
Benjamin Mkapa rarely ventured forward and failed to register a meaningful attempt at goal, with Agai’s backline comfortably neutralizing their advances.
The first half ended 1-0, but the second half saw Agai move up a gear.
Within minutes of the restart, their rapid attacks overwhelmed the Tanzanians.
Pius Ochieng doubled the lead with a clinical finish after a sweeping team move, before he sealed the win late on with his second of the day.
By the final whistle, it was clear Agai were a class apart, stretching their unbeaten run to three games.
After the win, Agai assistant coach Ibrahim Oteng told Mozzart Sport that the team is only focused on steady progress.
“We came with a purpose, we need to be the best school in Kenya. We have already made an impact, but we are still hungry for more,” he said.
Highway Secondary School 0-2 Amus College (Uganda)
At Kakamega High School Outer Field, Highway’s woes deepened as they fell 2-0 to defending champions Amus College of Uganda.
The opening half was balanced, with both sides trading attacks in an entertaining end-to-end affair.
Highway came close with a free kick that rattled the crossbar, while Amus saw a header fly inches wide.
Despite the exchanges, neither side could break the deadlock as the half ended goalless.
In the second half, Amus College’s experience and depth came to the fore.
Okello Ivan opened the scoring in the 56th minute with a fine strike after a sustained spell of pressure.
Fourteen minutes later, Otim John Brian doubled the tally, capitalizing on Highway’s defensive lapse.
The Ugandans could have scored more, striking the crossbar twice and forcing several fine saves from the Highway goalkeeper.
The defeat confirmed Highway’s elimination from the tournament, leaving them without a win in four games, made worse by the absence of head coach Beldine Odemba.
St Joseph’s High School Kitale 2-1 APE Rugunga (Rwanda)
At Bukhungu Stadium, St Joseph’s High School Kitale, nicknamed the Brown Saints, kept their unbeaten run alive with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Rwanda’s APE Rugunga.
The match began at a frenetic pace, with St Joseph’s quickly settling into their rhythm.
Their pressure paid off early when Tony Mwale broke the deadlock with a composed finish, calmly slotting past the Rugunga goalkeeper after a well-timed pass split the defense.
The goal energized the Brown Saints, who continued to dominate proceedings with quick interchanges in midfield.
Rugunga, however, refused to sit back. They pressed higher up the pitch and were rewarded before the break with an equalizer, capitalizing on a moment of defensive hesitation to make it 1-1.
The teams went into halftime level, setting up an intriguing second half.
After the restart, St Joseph’s looked the sharper side, pushing Rugunga deep into their half.
Their persistence bore fruit in the 63rd minute when Instin Simiyu found space at the edge of the box and rifled in a low drive to restore the lead.
Rugunga tried to mount a late comeback, but the Saints’ defense held firm with disciplined marking and well-timed tackles.
By the final whistle, St Joseph’s had done enough to secure all three points, cementing their unbeaten start and boosting their bid for a deep run in the competition.
The action continues this morning with Musingu taking on Uganda’s Buddo, Highway facing Butere in an all-Kenyan clash, while the Brown Saints return to Bukhungu against Tanzania’s Benjamin Mkapa.
