Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards will be renewing their rivalry this weekend at Nyayo National Stadium.

Local football fans in the country are in for a treat this weekend as record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia make a short travel to the Nyayo National Stadium to face fierce rivals AFC Leopards in the first leg of the Mashemeji Derby in the 2022/2023 Football Kenya Federation Premier League.

Ahead of the clash, classified as one of the biggest encounters in Africa, Mozzart Sport gives you a lowdown of everything you need to know.

Ticket Prices

According to the official information released by the club on Friday, a regular ticket to the match will cost three hundred. This is a hundred shillings more than what the club ordinarily charges for its other league games that have already taken place this season.

The VIP tickets will be sold at 1,000 shillings up from the usual five hundred normally charged by the club.

Game Number

The Sunday meeting between AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia will be the 92nd league meeting between the two sides.

This is without including cup competitions, abandoned matches and friendly encounters.

Head To Head record

In the previous 91 editions between the two sworn enemies, Gor Mahia have enjoyed the winning feeling more than their rivals as they have recorded 31 victories against Ingwe’s 27 wins with 33 matches between the two sides ending in draws.

Since March 2016, Gor Mahia have also not lost any game against Ingwe in the twelve encounters following their defeat (W9 D3).

During that period, K’Ogalo have also scored the most goals with the team having found the back of the net 86 times against their rivals.

Leopards on the other hand have scored 78 times.

Derby Top Scorers

Sammy Onyango ‘Jogoo’ who played for Gor Mahia in the past sits at the top of the derby scoring charts on six goals alongside former Ugandan international Dan Sserenkuma, who also played, for K’Ogalo.

The duo are two goals ahead of Wilberforce Mulamba who scored four goals in the derby while turning out for AFC Leopards.

In the players who are still active with the two sides, Gor Mahia’s Boniface Omondi leads the way on three goals and will be hoping to add onto his tally.

K’Ogalo’s George 'Blackberry' Odhiambo is on two goals with the other players such as Benson Omala (Gor Mahia) and Victor Omune (AFC Leopards) on one goal apiece.

The match will kick off at 1500 EAT.
