Chelsea's classy midfielder would love to return to Naples, but it's not likely to happen

Jorginho's contract is set to expire in six months. And even though there are a few interested parties, including Chelsea, the Italy international would love nothing more than to return to Napoli. However, the 31-year-old and his agent will prioritise current employers, who would like to extend his five-year stay at Stamford Bridge.

Jorginho's agent Joao Santos told Tuttomercato that a return to Naples is always an option for his agent. Still, it's far more realistic to remain in England, where he's playing regularly.

"His contract expires on 30 June. We have a renewal proposal from Chelsea, and we will give them a priority. Naples was Jorginho's home and he's greatly appreciated there. For us it's a special club, so we'd be happy with any interest. But at the moment, Napoli have not contacted us."

Barcelona and Juventus are reportedly eager to open talks with Jorginho in January, while Chelsea's Premier League rivals Newcastle United have also been linked with the former Napoli man.

Blues boss Graham Potter would like to lower his squad's average age, but he would be foolish to let such a good player leave on a free transfer in his prime. Newcastle could try to tempt the Brazilian-born player to the northeast of England as Eddie Howe's team looks to secure an unlikely Champions League qualification. The Magpies are flying high in third in the Premier League, and Howe could consider Jorginho's experience as vital as he looks to turn the North East side into future title contenders.

Jorginho will have a decision to make very soon.
