Tusker midfielder Chris Erambo is over the moon after marking his debut in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League with a win.

Erambo earned his league debt as well as his first start for Tusker on Saturday, when the brewers beat Muhoroni Youth 1-0 at the Ruaraka grounds.

David Odoyo scored the all-important goal in the second half to see his side bag maximum points for the second time in the season.

Erambo, who joined Tusker from National Super League side Mombasa Elite, says the result is all he had wished for on his first day in the top flight.

Although he was stretchered off late in the second half after suffering an injury, Erambo termed the day a success, even as he hopes for many more similar afternoons going forward.

I am happy with the way I played on my debut. It is satisfying to start with a win,” he told Mozzart Sport shortly after the final whistle.

Getting the nod from coach Robert Matano ahead of players who possess top-flight experience came as a result of hard work in training, according to the 21-year-old.

Despite arriving at the Tusker camp in the final weeks of the transfer week, he managed to convince Matano that he was the right man to anchor the midfield against Muhoroni.

It is all about showing that you deserve playing time in the training sessions. I have been giving my best in training, and it didn’t come as a shock when I was named in the starting team,” stated Erambo.

Having already tasted action at the top level, the former Kibera Saints player can only hope for a bright future, including turning professional.

Last year, Elite reported that Erambo and other players traveled abroad for trials but didn’t manage to sign deals with the clubs that had invited them.

I have no doubt in my mind that I will achieve my career goals,” he added.
