The Ghanaian departs after two seasons in green, during which he rose to become one of the most influential players in Kenyan football and played a central role in the club's return to the summit of the local game.

Al Merrikh confirmed the midfielder's arrival on Sunday, handing him a three-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2029 after the expiry of his deal with the Kenyan champions.

After the announcement, Morrison on Monday shared an emotional message to the club, thanking everyone who played a role in his journey.

"Thank you, Gor Mahia and the wonderful people of Kenya.

It has been an incredible two-year journey filled with unforgettable memories, success and support. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to wear this great club's colours and be part of such a passionate football family.

As I begin a new chapter in my career, the time has come to say goodbye. Leaving is not easy because Kenya and Gor Mahia will always hold a special place in my heart.

Thank you to my teammates, coaches, management and the amazing fans for your unwavering support throughout my time at the club.

I leave with great memories, including winning the league together, and I will forever cherish those moments. Wishing Gor Mahia continued success in the future. You will always have my respect and best wishes. Thank you for everything."

The 26-year-old arrived at Gor Mahia in 2024 from Ghanaian powerhouse Asante Kotoko and quickly established himself as a key figure in midfield.

His first campaign ended without silverware, but he remained one of the club's standout performers and helped K'Ogalo mount a successful title charge the following season.

That effort culminated in the club lifting a record-extending 22nd league crown and reclaiming their place at the top of Kenyan football.

The former Black Stars midfielder capped off the season with the biggest individual honour on offer after he was named both Player of the Season and Midfielder of the Season during the FKF Premier League Awards earlier this month.

Across 31 league appearances, Morrison scored three goals and registered four assists while creating more than 20 chances for his teammates.

His influence extended far beyond numbers, with his ability to control matches, win possession and dictate the tempo, often setting Gor Mahia apart from their rivals.

He finished the campaign with 15 Man of the Match awards, several Team of the Week selections, three Player of the Month nominations and three appearances in the Team of the Month.

His departure arrives at a time when Gor are preparing for another CAF Champions League campaign, forcing the club to search for a replacement capable of replicating his impact in the middle of the park.

Few players leave with their reputation stronger than when they arrived.

Morrison does exactly that, departing as a league champion, the league's best player and one of the most admired midfielders to grace the FKF Premier League over the last two seasons.
