The legendary Real Madrid captain is set to start a new chapter in his career far from European football

After taking a seven-month break, Sergio Ramos is set to sign with a new club. Several clubs have been mentioned since the Spaniard left Sevilla last June, and interestingly, none of them were European, as the US San Diego, the Argentinian giants Boca Juniors, and the Egyptian Zamalek were all in the mix for his next destination.

In the end, Ramos will indeed continue his career away from Europe, but in Mexico, as he is reportedly set to sign with the Mexican Monterrey! And if anyone were to wonder why the Spaniard opted for the relatively unknown club far from the spotlight, his vast salary would give the answer. Namely, according to TV Azteca, Ramos will earn over KSh 1.5 million (250,000 Mexican pesos) per day!

Monterrey will be the 38-year-old's fifth club, as he represented Sevilla Atletico, Sevilla, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain during his 22-year professional career. After four rounds of the ongoing campaign, the Rayados currently sit in the 13th spot in the Mexican Liga MX with only four points and without a win.
