PSG must top Auxerre in order to keep the gap with the second-placed Lens
Some few weeks ago, it seemed the title race in France was over even before it started. PSG were comfortably sitting at the summit with no contenders around, but a couple of rounds further down the road, and the situation is quite different. The surprising goalless draw with Reims, along with an incredible Lens' streak of six wins in the last seven games, changed the Ligue 1 relief.
Now the stubborn runners-up are just two points adrift of the Saints, who are with a game in hand. That match is on the menu today at Parc des Princes against the minnows Auxerre.
Christophe Galtier was adamant in his press conference on Friday afternoon - none of his Paris Saint-Germain players had come to him to ask to be rested on Sunday, in the final game before the World Cup next week. With the majority of the team's starters flying out to Qatar, Galtier is nevertheless set to go for a full-strength starting eleven. Other than Fabian Ruiz's absence from injury, the league leaders are at their full complement.
Galtier's opposite number, Christophe Pelissier, has managed to steady the ship since his arrival, notching four points in his two games so far.
