Ruto hosted the team before they departed for Mombasa for a league match

Deputy President William Ruto hosted FKF Premier League side, Vihiga Bullets for a luncheon on Thursday at his Karen residence ahead of their Saturday league match against Bandari FC at the Mbaraki Sports Club.

The team, that's on transit to Mombasa for the league action was accompanied to the luncheon by owner and former Vihiga County Governor Moses Akaranga.

The deputy president termed football as a social-economic force capable of changing the lives of people.

"Football is more than a game. It is a socio-economic force that can change the lives of young people especially if we build from the bottom going up. Had a cup of tea with Vihiga Bullets Football Club in the company of former Vihiga Governor Moses Akaranga" read a statement from the DP.

The second in command gave the team Ksh. 500,000 that will be shared amongst the players and members of the technical bench.

"We had a good time in Karen. It was nice having a chat with the deputy president, he encouraged us and in the end gave us Ksh. 500,000, we are very grateful for his token of appreciation and focus is now on our game against Bandari on Saturday," one of the players told Mozzart Sport.

Bullets' moved out of the relegation zone for the first time this season after they defeated Kariobangi Sharks 4-3 at the Kasarani Annex and they will be hoping for another favorable result when they take on title-chasing Bandari FC on Saturday afternoon
