FKF Premier League side Shabana announced a reduction in ticket sales revenue collected in their loss to Posta Rangers.

The Glamour Boys hosted The Mailmen in a FKF Premier League match held on Wednesday, 15 October at the Gusii Stadium and suffered a 2-1 defeat, which was also their first of the season.

Apart from the three points lost, the Gusii-based side also failed to meet their trend of over Ksh1 million.

“We collected a gross revenue of 937,000/=. Not the result your support deserved, we promise to bounce back.

It was great seeing the Stadium painted red and white,” reads a Facebook by the club.

The amount signified a drop of Ksh592,000 from the Ksh1,529,000 the Peter Okidi-coached side collected in their season opener against FKFPL newbies APS Bomet.

Since their return to the FKFPL in 2023, Shabana have undoubtedly been the club with the most number of supporters attending matches.

While this has helped the club use the fan support to propel them to win matches, it has also helped the club make match day ticket sales one of the main sources of revenue.

Last season, Shabana collected over Ksh20 million in match day ticket sales - the highest by any of the 18 league clubs.

Despite the drop, the amount collected against Posta Rangers is almost the Ksh985,700 collected by league giants Gor Mahia in their season opener against Bidco United.

On the field of play, Shabana looked like a pale shadow of their usual self, and failed to get control of the midfield or lay significant attacks on Posta.

The club missed the services of dangerman Brian Michira and midfielder Keith Imbali, who have been instrumental to the club’s impressive performance.

Goals either side of halftime by Brian Marita and Trevor Omondi gave Posta a two-goal lead, before Victor Omondi scored a consolation for Shabana in stoppage time.
