Between 1937 and 1974, the Rote Erde was the home of Borussia Dortmund's first team. Nowadays, it serves as the home stadium for Borussia Dortmund II, providing a capacity for 9,999 spectators.
According to the club's official website, the jersey draws inspiration from several iconic elements of the historic venue. The front pattern reflects the stadium's entrance gates, most notably the famous Marathon Gate, while the sleeves, collar and numbering pay tribute to the running track that has surrounded the pitch for decades.
The colour palette and the styling of the BVB crest are inspired by the sandstone walls that have framed the stadium since its opening in 1926. On the back of the shirt, the inscription reads: "100 Jahre Stadion Rote Erde" - marking a century of one of Dortmund's most cherished football landmarks.
