Dortmund chief: Haaland will stay in Borussia

Watzke claims that currently Mino Raiola's trips around the Europe are only self-marketing
The current Borussia Dortmund – Mino Raiola situation regarding Erling Haaland can be easily described as German determination against Italian marketing. The Norwegian striker’s super agent has travelled around the Europe with Haaland’s father Aflie, looking for buyers this summer, but during that time, all Borussia executives were saying the same thing: the player is staying in Dortmund.
They were not concerned with Raiola’s statements, pressure or media hype, they were determined that Haaland is staying. And they are not backing down. They have a long time relationships with Raiola and his players (see: Henrikh Mkhitaryan) and they know how the Italian works. They also know that in times of Covid-19 a price of over 13 billion Ksh is probably too much for any club. Most of them would rather wait for the 20202, when the price will drop significantly.
So, Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke seems relaxed about the situation:
„I have the clear expectation that Erling Haaland will play for us next year. And I don't waste any thoughts on anything else. I think Barcelona and Real know about the contract situation and our stance there as well. I am just totally relaxed. Nobody believed us with Jadon Sancho last summer until deadline day, and he's still with us today“ said Watzke to Sport Bild.
Haaland's agent Mino Raiola and his father Alf-Inge visited Barcelona and Real for transfer talks last month but Watzke described it as a 'self-marketing' trip.
„Firstly, he had informed us in advance. Secondly, it's clear that Erling will leave us at some point, just not so quickly. We also know that such trips are always a matter of self-marketing with Mino Raiola. You could of course start a game of ping pong and attack each other in public every second game. You either have a model where you sign a player and then let him go again or you don't have it. We can live with it and feel well because we know the contract situation, which helps us a lot“ concluded Watzke.

On this day 5 years ago, a 15-year old @ErlingHaaland made his professional debut for @Bryne_FK against Ranheim IL, in the Norwegian 2nd Tier.

And since there were rumors that Raiola was blackmailing Borussia to let Haaland go now, or he will sell him to their rivals Bayern next season, the soon to be Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn was quick to deny any interest from the Bavarians.
„Sorry, whoever spoke about that didn't understand the situation. A package that costs - as we heard - over 13 billion Ksh is unimaginable for FC Bayern at the moment“ said Kahn to Bild.
