Inspired by his role model, Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies, Onyango aims to improve his game and contribute more assists and goals for his team.

Vihiga Bullets Boniface Onyango, is set on helping his team secure promotion to the FKF Premier League next season.

Onyango and his team, Vihiga United, turned their season around in the second leg, finishing in 14th position after spending much of the first leg in the relegation zone.

The team's fortunes improved mid-season with changes to the technical bench and playing unit. New head coach Mark Andrea Ongwae, along with loan players like John Nyawir from Gor Mahia, helped the now Narobi-based team escape relegation. They capped off their season in style, defeating National Super League (NSL) champions Mara Sugar 2-1 on the final day.

The full-back has been a standout performer for Vihiga, with his overlapping runs being crucial to Ongwae’s setup. Known for his attacking threat from the flanks and his defensive duties, Onyango provided the assist for Nyawir’s winning goal against Mara Sugar in the last match of the campaign.

The player is now focused on helping his team achieve promotion next season “We were in the relegation zone for the majority of the first leg, but we managed to get ourselves out of there. We had a better second leg, and now we just want to strategize on how we will compete and fight for promotion next season,” said Onyango.

Inspired by his role model, Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies, Onyango aims to improve his game and contribute more assists and goals for his team.

“I want to improve my game and fight for the team by providing more assists and goals if needed. I wish to improve on this season's tally,” he added.

However, Vihiga Bullets will face the challenge of playing without John, who is returning to his parent club Gor Mahia. The winger hopes to secure his place there, though he might need to find a new team as he is currently not in Gor Mahia’s plans.

I will be returning to Gor Mahia after a successful six-month loan spell where I had six goals and five assists. I am ready to fight for my place there,” said Nyawir.
