A total of eight teams will qualify for the continental tourney.
The eight teams that made it to the CAF Women’s Champions League will find out their Group Stages fate on Friday, 09 September 2022 in a draw that will be conducted in Rabat, Morocco.
The draw is set to be conducted at 1330 hrs (EAT) at the Mohammed VI Technical Centre with the tournament scheduled from 31 October 2022 to 13 November 2022 in Morocco.
Morocco has been on the forefront of hosting women's tournaments after successfully staging the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations last July where South Africa emerged winners.
The participating Champions League teams have responded to the new CAF Club Licensing criteria and they represent all the six zonal unions of Africa.
One team from UNIFFAC representative will be revealed after the conclusion of the zonal tournament set to take place from 10 to 16 September 2022 in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.
Mamelodi Sundowns will be hoping to defend the title they won back in 2021 with only Wadi Degla and AS FAR being the remnants from the 2021 edition.
Last season’s CECAFA representatives Vihiga Queens did not take part in the qualifiers following Kenya’s suspension by FIFA for government interference in football.
Kenya will however be represented in the tournament through Topister Situma and Corazone Aquino who turn out for Simba Queens.
Qualified teams thus far:
Green Buffaloes (Zambia): COSAFA Champions
Determine Girls FC (Liberia): WAFU A Champions
Simba Queens FC (Tanzania): CECAFA Champions
Bayelsa Queens (Nigeria): WAFU B Champions
AS FAR (Morocco): Host Club
