Darwin shuns early criticism to score FOUR in a 5-0 thrashing of Leipzig (VIDEO)

Darwin Nunez casually came off the bench and scored a poker of goals as Liverpool humiliated RB Leipzig 5-0 at their Red Bull Arena on Thursday night.

Although Nunez had to endure some stick from the so-called "internet fans" for a few wasted chances in Liverpool's previous warm-up matches, but those critics will be quiet for a few days at least, having seen the Uruguayan net four times against Bundesliga opposition.

The Reds took the lead with eight minutes gone at Red Bull Arena when Mohamed Salah deceived Peter Gulacsi with a first-time finish he rolled into the net from just inside the area following a lay-off by Roberto Firmino.

The former Benfica striker grabbed his second moments later, finishing nicely after a swift counter-attack left him all alone inside the area. Hat-trick was completed with 69 minutes showing on the clock when he tapped in a low cross from Harvey Elliott from close range.

Darwin's final touch was to sweep in his fourth in the dying seconds following a counter-attack spearheaded by Fabio Carvalho.
