CWC: When they hear name Inter, PSG just turn on their beast mode

Paris Saint-Germain destroy Lionel Messi's Inter Miami 4-0 in the Club World Cup Round of 16

Inter Milan got thumped and ended the UEFA Champions League final with five goals in the back of their net.

Inter Miami got thumped, too, and ended their FIFA Club World Cup Round of 16 tie with four goals in the back of their net.

The killer in both cases? Paris Saint-Germain.

Luis Enrique's mean machine obviously finds that name, Inter, quite amusing as it triggers the beast mode among Les Parisiens.

PSG battered Lionel Messi's side 4-0 on Sunday with four first-half goals.

Perhaps the triumph would have been even more convincing if the Parisians, perhaps partly due to their enormous respect for their former member and teammate, had not put their foot on the break in the second half. They gave Messi, Luis Suarez, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, and their teammates more space to play and save themselves from total misery.

Straight from the start, the direction of the game was visible. PSG's forwards were going through Inter's defence like a knife through butter and got their opener very early.

Unmarked Joao Neves headed home Vitinha's free-kick cross at the back post, kickstarting a first-half thumping.

Javier Mascherano's team subsuequently made a tad bit of balance, and it seemed like they could maybe even hurt the European champions with the half-time break approaching. Alas, that's when the storm started...

Neves got his brace before Aviles' own goal basically wrapped up the tie, and Achraf Hakimi nailed the final, fourth, one in the stoppage time. His initial effort was deflected twice onto the crossbar, but he slotted the rebound home smoothly.

Messi just couldn't do it all by himself, but thankfully for him and the others, PSG didn't add to the scoreline after the break. Ousmane Dembele got his first minutes of the tournament, having returned from injury, and will be ready for the quarter-finals clash against the winner of the Flamengo-Bayern Munich tie.
