The Cabinet Secretary says the club has an ambitious plan to build a modern sports complex

Eliud Owalo, Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication, and the Digital Economy, revealed that, together with the Gor Mahia management, they are planning to build a complex that will have a club house, training pitch, fitness centre, and other sports amenities for Gor Mahia as a long-term project for the 21 league champions.

In the immediate term, the priority is to prepare early for continental football to give a good account of themselves and the country, with winning a CAF competition being the midterm goal.

"Our long-term project, in conjunction with the office, is to build a complex. We will get land, construct a training pitch, and have a fitness centre, among other sports amenities."

Speaking to the media at St. Sebastian Park in Muranga after Gor Mahia won 3-0 against Muhoroni Youth, the CS said that there is no time to celebrate much, and the focus should shift to early preparations for continental football assignments.

"I want to congratulate the team for winning the league one more time. However, this is now routine for us, and we should strive for even greater success by winning the continental championship. We need to start preparing for CAF competitions immediately in order to have a better chance of competing."

According to the CS, part of the preparations for CAF competitions includes signing some quality players during the transfer window.

"We're looking forward to working with the office to beef up the team so that it can be formidable enough for the continental championship, which should start immediately."

The CS, who donated a bus to K'Ogalo early in the season, stated that this initiative is part of the many efforts that ensured the team performed better this season, as the transport issue was now largely resolved.

Gor Mahia will be Kenya's representative in the CAF Champions League this season and will be hoping to give the best of their performances. This season, the team secured a spot in the CAF Champions League, but CAF imposed a ban on them due to a violation of CAF club licensing regulations, as they neglected to compensate their former players.

CS Eliud Owalo is a staunch supporter of Gor Mahia and local sports. He is also the deputy patron of Gor Mahia.
