ICT Cabinet Secretary and Gor Mahia fan, Eliud Owalo, hosted the team and officials to a breakfast where he gave them a pending bonus of Ksh. 725,000 and promised to help them acquire a new team bus in the near future. He also pledged to source for more financial support for the team if they win the FKFPL title this season

ICT Cabinet Secretary and a staunch Gor Mahia fan Eliud Owalo on Tuesday morning hosted the team and officials to a breakfast at a high end hotel in Nairobi where he dangled many goodies.

To start with, Owalo handed to the team skipper Philemon Otieno Ksh 725,000 five-match winning bonuses that were pending.

He further extended Ksh. 75,000 to the team's security team.

The meeting followed another meeting the CS had with the K'Ogalo's executive led by chairman Ambrose Rachier last week where they made certain requests.

"As a fan and at a personal level, I'm very impressed with the team's performance in the league," Owalo said, while acknowledging Gor Mahia's fine run in the league so far.

Perhaps the CS's biggest promise to the club is to help them acquire a new team bus "in a not too distant future."

"It's a great concern. I have had a lot of appeals in the last five years that as supporters of the club we should come together and get the club a bus. I want to assure you, without fear of contradiction, that we shall get a bus in the not so distant future," Owalo said.

In the event that Gor Mahia wins the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) title this season, Owalo has pledged to help source for more financial support for the team as they compete in the CAF interclubs.

K'Ogalo are presently top of the pile, two points clear of rivals Tusker FC in the title run with eight matches to go.

He urged the management to ensure that the team sticks together so that they can mature and form a formidable unit capable of competing in continental football.

"You have a young and extremely talented team that if nurtured and kept together can go places," he said.
