Covid-19 forces Malawi to dig into their reserve side ahead of Guinea clash

The flames have been one of the teams in Cameroon that have been bedeviled by Covid-19
Malawi head coach Mario Marinică has been forced to tap into his reserve side and call four players ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations clash against Guinea set for this evening from 7PM EAT.
The five players who have joined the Flames squad in Bafoussam, Cameroon include Nickson Mwase, Brighton Munthali, Paul Ndlovu, Stain Davie.

Malawi will be without six players after returning positive results in testing on Saturday, the country’s football association said in a statement.
On Saturday Richard Mbulu was been cleared to join the Flames camp in Bafoussam, Cameroon after testing negative to Covid-19 in Jeddah Saudi Arabia.
However, midfielder Charles Petro and defender Mark Fodya tested positive again and remained in isolation in Jeddah, ruling them out of the Guinea clash.
Covid-19 has wreaked havoc at the continental tourney with Guinea also set to miss defenders Fode Camara and Ibrahima Sory Conte, defensive midfielder Mory Konate and forward Morgan Guilavogui.

Guinea had already left three players behind in Rwanda, where they were preparing for the tournament because they had tested positive and were isolated.
The Flames are making a return to the tournament for the first time since the 2010 edition.
