Yoane Wissa is eager to join Newcastle United, but his current club has none of it...

Yoane Wissa is pushing to leave Brentford so much that he refuses to train as he looks to force an exit.

According to talkSport, the 29-year-old Congolese striker wants to join Newcastle United and play in the Champions League next season. However, Brentford informed Newcastle today that Wissa is not on the market even though they are actively looking for a replacement.

Previously, the Magpies communicated to Brentford that they were willing to raise a rejected £25million offer to £30m fixed with around £5m in add-ons.

Still, the Bees responded by saying Wissa is unavailable, and have indicated to all interested clubs that only the £50m+ offer could make the deal happen.

Wissa's current contract has one year left, but Brentford have a club option to extend it by another 12 months.

According to British media, the player himself is disappointed by the asking price and believes Brentford broke a verbal pact last week that should have allowed him to leave for around £26m.

Wissa had several options last year but told Brentford he was prepared to stay an extra year following the departure of Ivan Toney to Al-Ahli and a subsequent knee injury to Igor Thiago.

He went on to score 20 goals in all competitions last season, promising Brentford he would remain 100 per cent committed if an exit was allowed during this transfer window.

The Bees have already lost manager Thomas Frank to Tottenham and star forward Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United in a deal worth £71million, along with Christian Norgaard, who joined Arsenal.
