Chipo secured the team's safety in the top tier and helped the club bag bronze in the Mozzart Bet Cup.

Murang’a Seal FC have been dealt a surprise blow after head coach Yusuf Chipo parted ways with the club ahead of the new season.

Chipo, who took charge in April 2025, played a key role in steering the team to safety and was widely expected to lead them into the upcoming campaign. However, in a completely unexpected turn of events, he has left his role, forcing the club’s management to begin the search for a suitable replacement.

A source close to the developments has revealed to Mozzart Sport that differences over remuneration were at the heart of Chipo’s departure from Murang’a Seal FC. The coach and the club hierarchy were reportedly far apart in their negotiations, ultimately leading Chipo to walk away.

“Talks had been ongoing for weeks because the club really wanted to keep him. After what he achieved last season under very difficult circumstances, it was a no-brainer that the management wanted him to stay. However, his demands were not met as the club was unwilling to match his expectations, and in the end he felt it was best to leave. Now the club has to go back to the drawing board in search of a new coach,” said the source.

Before his exit, Chipo had already begun reshaping the squad. Just a week ago, Seal released 16 players to create space for new signings. Mozzart Sport understands that some of the axed players have since returned to the team, though it remains unclear whether this is directly connected to the coach’s sudden departure.

Chipo joined Seal on April 1, 2025, following the dismissal of John Njogu. At the time, the club had not won a single league match that year. He quickly turned things around, guiding the team to safety in the league and steering them to a third-place finish in the Mozzart Bet Cup — a run that earned the club Ksh 750,000.
