Monaco brought in the Senegalese winger
The whole of Europe has heard about the famous Genk scouting team and the club's great sales in recent years. It is more than enough just mentioning the names: Thibaut Courtois, Kevin De Bruyne, Kalidou Koulibaly, Sergej Milinkovic Savic, Christian Benteke, Wilfred Ndidi, Ruslan Malinovskyi, Leon Bailey, Mbwana Samatta, Leonardo Trossard, Sander Berge, Timothy Castagne, Joakim Maehle, Alejandro Pozuelo, Christian Kabasele...
From the sales of the mentioned 15 players, Genk collected almost 224 million USD (24.6 billion KSH).
Another Belgian club is also proud of their great scouting, cheap purchases and expensive sales. In the last ten years, Club Brugge has collected over 188 million USD (20.7 billion KSH) from the sale of their 15 most expensive players. And while Genk's players were mostly successful purchases from the buyer's point of view and their value increased, that was not always the case with Club Brugge. Aston Villa bought Wesley for 30.3 million USD (3.3 billion KSH), Bournemouth Arnaut Danjuma for 21.8 million USD (2.4 billion KSH), Brighton José Izquierdo for 18.2 million USD (2 billion KSH), Aston Villa Marvelous Nakamba for 14.5 million USD (1.6 billion KSH), Sevilla Carlos Bacca for 12.1 million USD (1.3 billion KSH), Watford Obbi Oularé for 10 million USD (1.1 billion KSH). Apart from Bacca and to some extent Nakamba, most were a hit-and-miss for the buyers and great deals for Club Brugge.
That is why Club Brugge's latest sale is attracting a lot of attention. The Belgian club sold winger Krépin Diatta to Monaco for as much as 19.4 million USD (2.1 billion KSH), which is the second largest sale in the history of the club. Diatta came to Club Brugge from Sarpsborg, Norway, for 2.4 million USD (264 million KSH) three years ago, so the profit is more than evident. And the Norwegian team brought him to Oslo from Dakar a year earlier for only 60.000 USD (6.6 million USD). So, this player brought huge profits. To some 10 times bigger and to the others 40 times bigger.
The Senegalese scored 20 and assisted 11 goals in 95 games in Club Brugge in three years, which is not a fantastic result. However, in Monaco, they believe that the fast-footed Diatta is exactly what they needed. He is only 21 years old and in Monaco they hope he will be a worthwhile investment. Both on the pitch and on the market, if one day a time comes for selling him to another club.
He will replace the Nigerian winger Henry Onyekuru, who is returning on loan to Galatasaray, where he once already revived his downward-facing form.
