A number of Kenyan plying their trade abroad had a dark Saturday with results not going their way.

Kenyan international Clarke Oduor lasted the full 90 minutes in Barnsley’s draw against Blackburn Rovers as Vincent Harper and David Sesay featured for Eastleigh and Barnet respectively.

Clare Oduor

Despite the heroics of Clarke Oduor who dazzled in the clash against Blackburn Rovers, Barnsley settled for a barren draw in the English Football League (EFL) Championship.

In the first half, Oduor was a handful for the Blackburn Rovers defenders with his incisive running and mesmeric dribbling as he was deployed as a winger.

The draw leaves Barnsley with eight points from eight games and currently sit 19th on the log, a long way from Promotion Playoffs places that they achieved last season.

Vincent Harper

Kenyan defender Vincent Harper clocked 90 minutes as Eastleigh FC went down 2-0 to Grimsby in the English National League.

Harper picked up a booking in the 18th minute as Michee Efete opened the scoring at the stroke of the halftime mark with Ben Fox assuring all three points for Grimsby in the 72nd minute by doubling their lead.

David Sesay

Kenyan defender David Sesay who made it to the National League Team of the Week last week started the 2-0 defeat to Bromley.

Michael Cheek opened the scoring for Bromley after just 19 minutes of play, Chris Bush doubled their lead two minutes after the hour mark.

Barnet are currently in the relegation zone after amassing just two points from seven games having not won any of their games this season.

Jesse Were & Ian Otieno

Kenyan internationals Jesse Were and Ian Otieno bowed out of the CAF Champions League with Zesco United despite a 2-1 win over Eswatini side Royal Leopards.

Tafadzwa Rusike put Zesco ahead a minute after the half-hour mark with Junior pulling one back for Royal Leopards four minutes later.

Zesco had a dream start to the second half as Winston Kalengo restored their lead two minutes after the resumption of the second half but Leopards restricted the Zambian champions to advance to the Second Round.

Anthony Akumu

Kenyan international Anthony Akumu clocked 48 minutes for Kaizer Chiefs in the 4-1 drubbing at the hands of Royal AM in the South African Premier Soccer League.

Victor Letsoalo out Royal AM ahead in the 34th minute with Akumu introduced in the 42nd minute in place of Phathutshedzo Nange.

Royal AM made it 2-0 in the 66th minute with Sifiso Sandile pulling one back for Chiefs but an own goal from Sibusiso Mabiliso and Thikazi Mfundo’s strike saw Royal AM walk away 4-1 winners.
