The two sides met in a National Super League (NSL) match on Wednesday 27 May at the Gem Cambridge, with a 41st minute strike by James Kibande cancelling out a goal by Glen Odhiambo that had given Black Stars the lead inside the first minute.

The result extended City Stars’ winless run to six games, including four losses, ahead of their final three matches before the end of the season.

Speaking after the Wednesday afternoon clash, Ochola identified an area that his side must improve on, if they are to post better results.

“We still have finer details to work on like our attack, where we create numerous goalscoring opportunities, but fail to convert most of them. Fortunately, there is belief from the whole team that we can improve on this,” said Ochola.

The tactician also explained the tactical approach that managed to secure at least a point for Simba Wa Nairobi.

“We started the match a little low, but we pulled up our socks, matched them tactically and nullified their formation. Our set up helped us to stay in the game, and get an equalizer,” he added.

His Kibera Black Stars counterpart Iddi Badi on the other hand, disclosed why they could not protect their lead to full time.

“City Stars were physically strong and deployed a good press. We got an early goal, but also allowed an easy goal as a result of their high press,” stated Badi.

Badi went ahead to call on his troops to put more effort in training and matches, in order to get back to winning ways.

“As a team, we need to push more and work harder to make amends before our next match against MOFA in order to finish the season strongly,” he added.

Black Stars are currently ninth on the league standings with 52 points, while City Stars are 12th with 39.
