Chelsea's Mission (Im)possible: Ending PSG's 'terror'

The Blues are in for a task no one has managed to fulfil this season. It's called "How to stop Luis Enrique's ruthless machinery?"
It all comes down to this. Almost a whole month of football in the merciless sun of the United States will get its crown tonight (22.00) when Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain will lock horns fighting for the FIFA Club World Cup title and the right to call themselves "Club World Champions" for the next four years.

The Saints were somewhat expected in the final, considering their UEFA Champions League campaign and the ruthless performance in the UCL final against Inter Milan. And just like in the elite European competition, their path to glory wasn't easy.
On the contrary, they had to face Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Man City, Liverpool, and Arsenal, among others, to win their maiden UCL. At the CWC, they fought once more against Los Colchoneros and the Bavarians, while the mighty Real Madrid waited for them in the semis, and they beat them all without conceding a goal.
On the other hand, Chelsea also clinched a European trophy, the UEFA Conference League, though their rivals were mainly minnows, with all due respect. The first relatively tougher challenge was Real Betis in the final.
Similarly to PSG's case, Chelsea's "smooth route" continued at CWC, as they faced three Brazilian, one US, and one Tunisian team, while their only European opponent was Benfica, which they defeated only after extra time.

Now, this "effortlessness" ends, as their ultimate challenge is the toughest possible. The Parisians won every competition they participated in this season (Ligue 1, Coupe de France, French Super Cup, and the Champions League) and eagerly await the chance to make it 5/5.
Enzo Maresca and his lads will have to find a way to stop Luis Enrique's ruthless machinery and accomplish something no one managed this season, especially since the beginning of 2025. They can either go big or go home.
